Rebecca & Sam

Saturday 22nd August 2009 was to see me DJ at the wedding of Rebecca & Sam @ The Richmond Hill Hotel in Surrey. It was to be a fantastic day (and evening) and it also delivered a rather bizarre surprise as it turned out!! (I'll get to that bit later!)

I was first contacted by Rebecca & Sam when they found my website via a google search. Both liked the look of how I work and arranged to come along and visit me at my home in Sutton.

I was slightly surprised when Rebecca's parents Jackie & Mike came along, as I'd never experienced this before but the nerves soon settled when it was clear what a friendly family they were! We discussed in depth about how they wanted everything to be on their special day. Rebecca & Sam decided they would like me there all day for when they arrived back from the ceremony. This would see me arriving at the venue at 2pm to set up in time for a 3.30pm start, ready to play soft background music through the drinks reception and then through the wedding breakfast which was to start at 5.30pm.

During our meeting we chatted about the type of music they liked, what they wanted playing through the wedding breakfast, to various particular songs they wanted playing at certain times in the evening. All the family were big Lionel Ritchie fans, so tracks like "stuck on you" "my destiny" "do it to me one more time" amongst others, were perfect to play through the sit down meal. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the music was a general mix of classic love songs along with a blend of artists such as Michael Buble to add that modern swing feel.

I also introduced the potential appeal of my LED Moodlighting to Rebecca & Sam. I set up several uplighters in my living room to show what kind of effect this wonderful invention can have when it comes to decorating a room / venue with any colour whatsoever. Both Rebecca & Sam definitely seemed very taken by this and it came as no surprise when they confirmed they wanted me to install the lighting at their venue for them. We had the colour fixed on Purple throughout the evening.

Well the big surprise for me on Rebecca & Sam's wedding day, was that it turned out my 4yr old twin sons Billy & Georgie were at the ceremony!! I really couldn't believe it!! You are probably wondering how I did not know about such a thing!? Well, I am seperated from their mummy and I had no idea there was a friend connection, and Emma (my son's mummy, had no idea I was their DJ!). It was an incredible coincidence and raised many smiles amongst us all!

Onto the evening......

The wedding cake was amazing! As you can see in the beautiful photos it looks fantastic lit up with the LED Moodlighting in the background. Rebecca & Sam are very keen travellers hence why the cake design is of suitcases! It did seem such a shame to have to cut it!

The song choice for the 1st dance was a track called "You make it real for me" by James Morrison. This was followed by a song for the the Bride and her Father, it was to be Lionel Richie's "Dancing on the ceiling". Another special song that Rebecca & Sam wanted including for dancing later in the evening was the track "Wifey" by soul artists "Next".

The dancefloor was then open for everybody to enjoy a night full of classic floorfillers from the 70's, 80's & 90's with a mix of todays best chart tracks. The atmosphere all the way through till midnight could not have been any better.

It was the perfect wedding...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rebecca & Sam for putting their trust in me for their wedding day and for giving me permission to write this story and show their photos.

Best wishes to them both for the future.
