Rebecca & Sam

Saturday 22nd August 2009 was to see me DJ at the wedding of Rebecca & Sam @ The Richmond Hill Hotel in Surrey. It was to be a fantastic day (and evening) and it also delivered a rather bizarre surprise as it turned out!! (I'll get to that bit later!)

I was first contacted by Rebecca & Sam when they found my website via a google search. Luckily they both liked what they saw and arranged to come to my home and visit me.

I was slightly surprised when Rebecca's parents Jackie & Mike came along with them! This was a first for me but I need not have been too nervous as it was such a pleasant meeting and we discussed in depth about how they wanted everything to be on their special day. Rebecca & Sam decided that they would like me there all day for when they arrived back from the ceremony. I would arrive at the venue at 2pm to set up, ready for a 3.30pm start, to play background music through the drinks reception and then through the wedding breakfast at 5.30pm till 7.30pm.

During the meeting at my home in Sutton we chatted about the type of music they liked, what they wanted playing through the wedding breakfast, to various particular songs they wanted playing at certain times in the evening, all the family were Lionel Ritchie fans so it was perfect to play tracks like ''stuck on you'' ''my destiny'' ''penny lover'' and ''do it to me one more time'' through the meal. The atmosphere really was fantastic and very relaxed and the music was a general mix of classic love songs along with a blend of artists such as Michael Buble to add that modern swing feel.

I took the opportunity during our meeting to give a little demo of my LED uplighting to Rebecca & Sam in my front room! I set up several uplighters to show what kind of effect this wonderful invention can have when it comes to decorating a room / venue with colour. Rebecca definitely seemed very taken by this and it came as no surprise when her & Sam confirmed they wanted me to install the uplighting at their venue for them. As you can see in the photos it does look great, and the colours are so rich.

Well the big surprise for me on Rebecca & Sam's wedding day was that it turned out my 4yr old twin sons Billy & Georgie were at the ceremony!! I couldn't believe it!! WHAT A COINCIDENCE!! You are probably wondering how I did not know about such a thing!? Well I am seperated from their mummy and I had no idea there was a friend connection! My sons auntie Maxine, her partner Stuart is one of Sam's best friends and Stuarts brother was the 'best man'! My sons did not attend the reception but Maxine was there with Stuart and later in the evening Maxine was the lucky one who caught Rebecca's bouquet toss!!

Onto the evening......

The wedding cake was amazing! As you can see in the beautiful photos it looks fantastic lit up with the LED uplighting. Rebecca & Sam are very keen travellers hence why the cake design is of suitcases!! It did seem such a shame to have to cut it!

The song choice for the 1st dance was by James Morrison ''You make it real for me'' a great song by a guy with such a unique voice. This was followed by a song for the the bride and her father, it was Lionel Richie's ''Dancing on the ceiling''. Another special song that Rebecca & Sam wanted including for dancing later in the evening was the track ''Wifey'' by soul artists ''Next''. You can see them dancing to all 3 of these songs in the upcoming video footage that will be on this page soon.

The dancefloor was then open for everybody to enjoy a night full of classic floorfillers from the 70's, 80's & 90's with a mix of todays best chart tracks. The atmosphere all the way through till midnight could not have been any better.

It was the perfect wedding...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rebecca & Sam for putting their trust in me for their wedding day and for giving me permission to write this story and show their photos.

Best wishes to them for the future.
